transcendently clever to survive the macabre mischief that is the
hallmark of the Hatter's domain. A dim recollection of tea with her family stirs in a long dormant cupboard of Alice's scarred mind.“I preferred cake to scones,”she mutters in a hushed voice while surveying the Hatter's mouldy spread. For his part,the Hatter's agitation is palpable,his devotion to the Queen of Hearts complete.When,in a maniacal fit he strikes down the unfortunate White Rabbit,Alice gives utterance to her grim reality. “Everyone I love dies violently.” |
独特のツンとくる腐敗臭が、カビ臭い空気を汚
している。帽子屋の領域ならではの死の危険を生き残るには、並はずれて利口にならなければならない。 ぼんやりとした家族とのお茶会の思い出が、長いまどろみの中で、アリスの傷付いた心の戸棚を揺さぶる。 「スコーンよりケーキの方がいいのに」 帽子屋のカビ付いたご馳走を見渡しながら、アリスは小さな声で呟いた。 一方、帽子屋の熱狂は明らかに見てとれ、女王にも完全に傾倒しているようだった。気まぐれの狂乱で、彼は不幸な白ウサギを踏み潰した。 アリスは無慈悲な現実に言葉を漏らす。 「愛する者が皆死んでいく。」 |
